I have been working with adolescents and youth for over 8 years now. I have always felt the need of understanding constitutional values so that I can develop a better connection with my work in the community.
As I went through the training, I gained a complete understanding of the Preamble. I realised that each word holds such significant meaning to it and I also feel a sense of ownership when it comes to constitutional values. Now while taking the sessions, I shifted the methodology from just me reading the Preamble to asking one of the group members to read the Preamble and to my surprise, this small shift only helped me engage better with the group. They were more involved in the discussion and asked many questions to connect the values with the issues affecting their daily lives.
Through my engagements and conversations, I felt that the youth and adolescents want more understanding of the Constitution. I am constantly working on my planning, as I can better relate my work with the provisions of the Constitution now. A deeper understanding of the Constitution has given me a roadmap to do my work effectively.
